Christians, how is saving faith/accepting Jesus an instantaneous event?
lots of verses in the Bible talk about how to be saved and have eternal life….
the Bible says that we need to “believe in Him”, that whoever has “faith” will be saved (see John 3:36)
but maybe i’m reading a little too much into this….but how do we know that these are instant events? that one minute you’re not saved and the next minute you’re not. after all, maybe it takes a lifetime to “believe” or a lifetime to have “faith”….does anything about these actions imply that it happens in only one instant?
Jesus talks about being “born again” in the Gospel of John, Chapter 3.
I think that He is referring to an instantaneous event. Now I know that some women are in labor for many hours, but the birth is sort of an instant event. One moment your in, the next your out.
While with salvation one moment your out and the next your in.
Yes, true salvation is an instant event.
